Insurance Claims

Here at SDL Paintworks LTD we are BSI 10125 insurance approved which means if you find yourself in a motor accident you could be referred to our garage for your insurance claim, not many people know this, but you can also request to use us for your insurance claims too!

We have a helpful and knowledgeable team to support you through the claims process, Insurance claims can be a upsetting and frustrating at times and we are here to help you keep the process as smooth as possible. We have put a timeline together to help you to understand the process in which happens behind the scenes for insurance claims:

1. You contact your insurance to inform them of the accident and they will deploy your vehicle request to us

2. We will accept your claim where possible and contact you to bring your vehicle down the workshop so we can talk through the damage and take some images for the insurance company

3. We then submit to the insurance company all the details along with images and estimate on the repair costs to your vehicle

4. We then must wait for the insurance company to approve the repairs.

5. Once approved we will contact you to get you booked in as soon as possible.

FAQ Insurance Claims

How long will the repairs take?

We are given a 10-day window to repair your vehicle and return to you at the earliest convenient date. If we can get your vehicle in and out in a quicker time frame, we shall always do this and keep you updated with a completion date.

Who do I pay my policy excess too?

Majority of insurance claims come with a policy excess which is payable upon completion of your repairs. We take payment at the workshop via, card payment, BAC’s Payment or cash. Excess payments are not subject to VAT and must be paid before we can return your vehicle.

Do you supply a hire car?

A hire car can be supplied if you have hire car cover on your policy, so please check if this is something your insurance covers. Please also be aware with an extremely high demand we tend to have a hire car waiting list in which we try our best to manage fairly with all customers. However, if the accident damage was not your fault and your vehicle was damaged via a third party you will be automatically entitled to a hire car replacement when your vehicle is being repaired.

How long does it take to gain authorisation for the repairs?

Gaining authorisation can vary some claims will receive this quickly and others may have a small wait. It really does depend on each individual insurance company and their waiting times. We will always try to keep you informed the best we can and let you know any relevant information as we receive it along the way.
